Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thero, the Buddhist Chief High Priest of Malaysia (Buddhist Chief Monk of Malaysia / Ketua Sami Tertinggi Agama Buddha Malaysia) and the founder and advisor of the Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society and Ti-Ratana Welfare Society. Shot entirely in a single day on an Apple iPhone 16 Pro with the DJI OM7 gimbal, the film presents its subject in a natural and unembellished style. Captured in 4K 25FPS and scaled down to HD 25FPS for streaming, “Chief” embraces minimalism - using only subtle color grading, almost no added audio or visual effects, and a simple cut-to-cut storytelling flow. The result is a quietly compelling portrait that reflects the serene clarity of Buddhist practice, allowing Ven. Datuk Dr. Dhammaratana’s presence and mission to shine through without distraction. “Chief” was shot entirely by myself, but I have placed the copyright under my Media & IT role as a committee at Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society (Ti-Ratana Lumbini Garden, Puchong) for fair use, aligning with Dhamma principles and ethical media considerations. In these challenging times, our Wesak 2021 Celebrations at Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society had to be conducted differently, with lesser people - in fact, at the eleventh hour, it was announced that an even lesser number of people, consisting of no devotees would be allowed on site. Our annual Wesak Eve Procession draws over 800 to 1,000 participants, walking around the town of Bandar Puteri, Puchong with colourful parade floats.
